A...Yes, I remember the Fed scandal of last summer. And it's interesting that Bernie Sanders, Congress's only socialist, helped bring it to light. But it's also interesting that Sanders does not take a fanatic stand against the Fed, demanding its dissolution. He wants it to be more closely watched so that it serves the public interest. This has been its main job over the past century, even though, like many such institutions, it is prone to corruption when not closely regulated.

Good quotes from Sanders:

"This is a clear case of socialism for the rich and rugged, you're-on-your-own individualism for everyone else."

"The Federal Reserve must be reformed to serve the needs of working families, not just CEOs on Wall Street."

Reformed, not abolished.

There seem to be two kinds of conservatives. The common, George W. Bush types, who want to make the government beholden to the rich so they can use the government to screw the rest of us, and the less common, libertarian types, who want to eliminate the government as a factor so rich people can just have their way with us directly as they did in the feudal era, before democratic constitutions were established.Rlmoore2647@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05639371903932229530noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4892410341630086121.post-67167626541007516342011-12-23T19:50:36.132-08:002011-12-23T19:50:36.132-08:00The link (or I thought it would show up as a link)...The link (or I thought it would show up as a link) is to the results of a semi-audit of the Fed from this past July, showing how the Fed provided "more than $16 TRILLION in financial assistance to some of the largest financial institutions and corporations in the U.S. and throughout the world." Completely unjustifiable. Completely unacceptable. Completely unforgivable.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17828059043385571520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4892410341630086121.post-42263645873213547502011-12-23T19:47:58.988-08:002011-12-23T19:47:58.988-08:00George W. This group of private bankers continue printing money, making our currency worth almost nothing now. Most importantly, they make secret back-door deals and never get called on it.
http://sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/news/?id=9e2a4ea8-6e73-4be2-a753-62060dcbb3c3Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17828059043385571520noreply@blogger.com
