Aside from the Social Statistics volume, perhaps, just say no - to both a retired Dr. Moore and retiring his books.

Yes there are other, sometimes more efficient, mediums today. I use them myself from time to time, but there will always be a place, at least on my shelves, for the old-fashioned physical book. It just reads better that way.
MikeAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00572580277686906216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4892410341630086121.post-7838102773683158352013-09-22T18:31:15.881-07:002013-09-22T18:31:15.881-07:00Great post! But I'd like to correct your line where you wrote "But when I retire, some few years from now," to "some years from now." I don't like the "few" part.
- From your admiring colleague, Rachel. I too have recently walked into this trap of endless book buying. Although it is somewhat maintainable at this point, I envisage an overcrammed bookshelf falling on me in my sleep if a quick fix is not found. I link this gathering of books to other minor hoarding pastimes: basketball cards, vinyl records, and used bicycles. Since you mentioned retiring in the near future, maybe opening a used book shop called the 'Addict's Library' on Park Avenue is worth considering. I would visit regularly.
